Bisma Ahmad
Bisma Ahmad was part of the Tsinghua Global Business Journalism program's graduating class of 2023. Her journalism philosophy is to give voice to people who do not always get to tell their stories and to build human connections.
She grew up in Pakistan, where she traveled and met people from diverse backgrounds. Even as a child, she loved getting to know stories of people through a different lens of life.
As an undergraduate, she majored in International Relations at Quaid-i-Azam University in her own country. She knew she wanted to do something positive for society during her time there. Therefore, she became vice president of her university's Civic Society and took part in youth cultural activities.
Her interest in the GBJ program was kindled when she learned more about China's policies and culture during her undergraduate program. During her master's studies, she gained professional journalism experience as she actively worked as an intern and wrote stories to promote the Global Business Journalism program.
However, the COVID outbreak prevented her from coming to China for two years. Always resilient, Bisma took a gap year, and worked as digital marketing and communications manager for an IT firm in her country while restlessly waiting for her return to Beijing.
When Bisma finally received permission to travel, it was a dream come true. She views her Tsinghua experience as much more than she had imagined.
