We've listed the canteens where you can find our favorites and a description of the delicious dishes.
Taoli Canteen (Second Floor)
Our favorite: The qiaojiao beef
Let's start our culinary journey at Taoli Canteen. Renee, a first-year master's student, loves the Qiaojiao Beef here. Nestled near the student dormitories, Taoli Canteen is a heaven for those with a bigger appetite. The rich, savory flavors of the Qiaojiao Beef make it a must-try dish that will leave you feeling satisfied and ready to tackle your next academic challenge.
Zijing Canteen
Our favorites: Hainan chicken; malatang; jaozi; the bean curd noodles
Next up is the ever-popular Zijing Cafeteria, a favorite among students for its variety and affordability. Xingxing, a freshman from Mongolia studying in the Department of Architecture, recommends the Hainan Chicken for its savory taste. If you're in the mood for something spicy and customizable, Xingxing suggests the malatang, the famous hot-and-numbing Sichuan soup. Zijing's version allows you to pick your ingredients and spice level.
For those seeking lighter fare, head to the 4th floor of Zijing Cafeteria. Rose Eleonore from France adores the jiaozi (dumplings), which are perfect for a light yet satisfying meal. If you're a vegetarian, you'll appreciate Yuxin's recommendation of Bean Curd Noodles, a flavorful and hearty dish.
And let's not forget the 1st floor of Zijing Cafeteria, which Rose Eleonore highlights for its wide variety of options. Open until late, it's the go-to spot when you're unsure of what to eat or need a meal after a long study session at the main library.
Qing Qing Café
Our favorite: The mushroom chicken pasta
Craving Western-style cuisine? Qing Qing Café is the place to be. Xingxing highly recommends the Mushroom Chicken Pasta. Located near the student center, this cozy cafe offers a delightful escape with its comforting and delicious pasta dishes.
Yuyuan Canteen
Our favorite: The rice noodles
If noodles are your thing, you must visit Yuyuan Canteen. Xinnan, a postdoc at the School of Journalism and Communication, raves about the rice noodles. Known for its rich, comforting bowls of noodles, Yuyuan canteen is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a flavorful meal. Check the campus map for its exact location.
Qingqing Niu La
Our favorite: The lamb skewers
For those who love grilled delicacies, Qingqing Niu La offers some of the best Grilled Lamb Skewers on campus. Abbas Khan from the SEM's Global MBA program praises their fresh and hot lamb skewers, which come with customizable spices. Open from 10 AM to 10:30 PM, Qingqing Niu La is a fantastic choice for nearly any time of day.
MMaoCafe
Our favorite: The fries
Last but certainly not least is MMaoCafe, a hidden gem inside the campus. Vicky from Global Business Journalism program believes she found the best-loaded and crispiest fries ever at MMaoCafe.
