Zuzanna Bialas, from Warsaw, Poland, first came to China as an au pair for a Chinese family and fell in love with the country and its culture. She studied the Chinese language, and even during her time as an undergraduate student in the United Kingdom, she dreamed of returning to China for graduate school.
When the time came for applying to master's programs, she was fortunate that her top grades made her eligible for the country's top universities. She focused on China's best university – Tsinghua – and specifically, the Global Business Journalism program, because she had realized the importance of journalism is shaping global views of nations.
“I realized how important journalism is and how it changes people’s perceptions," she said in a video Q&A with Global Business Journalism reporter Maria Arkhipova. "Being a journalist is actually an important role."
From the beginning, there was only one place she wanted to go: "When it comes to Tsinghua, it’s a great university. It’s high in rankings. It’s known for high quality of education and I think it’s the most important factor."
Since enrolling last September, Zuza says she has been very pleased with the GBJ experience.
“The think I can honestly say that the program so far has exceeded my expectations," she said, "and I know that I am going to use the skills I’ve learned so far in the future.”
